Cantaloupe is also known as cantaloup, muskmelon, mushmelon, rockmelon, sweet melon, honeydew, persian melon or Garmak. It is an orange-fleshed melon and is the most popular variety of melon in USA.
So can chinchillas eat cantaloupe?
Lets take a look here and find out more but checking out its nutritional data.
Lets take a look at their nutritional data and find out more. In particular, their acidic, fat, phosphorus, sugar, and calcium content is of particular interest as far as chinchillas are concerned.
As you can see cantaloupe contains a hint of phosphorus, calcium, a little acidic content, a hint of fat but has quite a bit of sugar.
This means that chinchillas cannot eat cantaloupe or its rind unfortunately. It is just too sweet for them and they cannot handle the sugar content that it has as it will give them tummy ache or diarrhoea if they eat it.
