Romaine lettuce is also known as cos lettuce and is a type of lettuce which grows in a tall head of sturdy leaves that have firm ribs down their centre. It is a type of lettuce which is quite tolerant of heat.
So can chinchillas eat romaine lettuce at all?

As you can see romaine lettuce contains a little calcium, and a lot of acidic content.
This means it is very bad for chinchillas to eat and should be avoided as far as chinchillas are concerned. Because of its acidic content it would give them awful tummy problems and make them ill.
