Pretzels are a type of baked bread that are made from dough.
They are most commonly shaped into a twisted knot.
The traditional pretzel shape has a distinctive shape with the ends of a long strip of dough intertwined and then twisted back on itself.
They are coated in washing soda or lye treatment which give them their traditional skin and flavor through the Maillard reaction.
Salt is the most common seasoning of pretzels, but other seasonings include sugar, chocolate, glazes, seeds or nuts. (source)
So can chinchillas eat Pretzels?
If they are coated in salt, sugar, glazes or chocolate or any other seasoning, they cannot eat them.
If they are plain pretzels with no flavorings then they are fine for them to nibble on.
