Poplar is part of the Populus genus of 25–35 species of deciduous flowering plants in the family Salicaceae.
They are native to most of the Northern Hemisphere. English names variously applied to different species include poplar, aspen, and cottonwood.
The genus has a large genetic diversity, and can grow from 15–50 m tall, with trunks up to 2.5 m in diameter. (source)
So can chinchillas eat poplar?
Yes they can, it is fine for chinchillas to chew on.
There are many woods that they can’t eat, but poplar is okay for them and won’t hurt them.
