As you can see cantaloupe contains a hint of phosphorus, calcium, a little acidic content, a hint of fat but has quite a bit of sugar.

This means that chinchillas cannot eat cantaloupe or its rind unfortunately. It is just too sweet for them and they cannot handle the sugar content that it has as it will give them tummy ache or diarrhoea if they eat it.
